Liverpool vs AC Milan meet on the first matchday of Group B of the Champions League, Thursday (16/9/2021) early morning WIB. The Reds took the lead through Fikayo Tomori’s own goal in the ninth minute.
Milan was then able to comeback ahead of the break by scoring two goals. Ante Rebic tore through Alisson Becker’s goal in the 42nd minute and Brahim Diaz in the 44th
Competing in front of their own supporters, Liverpool successfully controlled the second half. Juergen Klopp’s team also won after Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson scored.
Brahim Diaz was upset by this defeat, but insisted that Milan were able to compete in the group stage despite a long absence from the Champions League.
“Of course, we are Milan and we proved that we can compete in the Champions League. I am angry because I feel we can win here, so yes, the result does make me angry,” Brahim Diaz told Sky Sport Italia.
Brahim Diaz felt that Milan did not start the game well even though they were slowly recovering. On the other hand, he admitted it was very difficult to win at Anfield.
“We didn’t start in the best way, they were very aggressive and strong. Then we brought out more of our quality and intensity to turn things around,” Brahim Diaz revealed.
“It’s a shame, because it’s difficult to take the lead here and we have done that, but we conceded two more goals and lost this game.”
